Phoenix is gearing up for 602 Day, and local businesses are being called on to join the celebration. Set for June 2, this event honors Phoenix's original area code, 602, and aims to boost community spirit. The City of Phoenix is extending an open invite to local establishments to participate by offering specials, themed items, or hosting events. An official 602 Day Business Participation Form is available for those interested in getting involved, with an April 25 deadline for submissions.
In anticipation of the festivities, businesses have an array of options to partake, "Whether it’s a $6.02 special, 602 Day-themed menu item or activity, or just sharing love for the community through social media," as shared by the City of Phoenix. As a bonus, participating businesses will be featured on a mobile-friendly map and list on the 602Day website, starting May 12.
Last year's celebration saw more than 100 local entities offering promotions, which led to a welcomed uptick in sales and customer engagement during what is typically a slower period for Phoenix businesses. Several cultural pillars and sports teams, including the Phoenix Zoo, Phoenix Art Museum, and Arizona Diamondbacks, also joined the event with special offers.
Demonstrating their own support, various City of Phoenix departments took part, with initiatives like the Fire Department handing out 602 smoke detectors and the Public Library integrating a 602 Day badge into its Summer Reading Program.
