Early in the pre-dawn hours of March 14, a rollover crash south of downtown Phoenix left a police officer with serious injuries. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, two vehicles were involved in the incident that occurred around 12:45 a.m. at the Buckeye Road overpass at Interstate 17.
After the collision, the police SUV, which was part of the Phoenix Police Department's patrol, rolled over. Suffering serious but non-life-threatening injuries from the crash, the police officer was hospitalized. In the other vehicle, two adults were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries, which were deemed non-life-threatening, having also been involved in the crash, as detailed by FOX 10 Phoenix. The intersection, capturing the scene of twisted metal and flashing lights, was shut down for several hours to accommodate the active investigation.
ABC 15 reported that officials investigating the circumstances of the crash have determined impairment was not a factor. The exact cause of the accident is part of an ongoing investigation.
