Marcus Freiberger, a yoga teacher from Phoenix, was found dead last Wednesday at a rock quarry near 15th Avenue and Broadway Road after being missing for over a month. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, he was last seen on February 21 near the Biltmore area before going to a blind date downtown. The Phoenix Police Department is investigating his disappearance and death. Friends and family expressed concern, describing his absence as unusual. Forrest Kruger, the owner of Melrose Yoga, where Freiberger taught, said, "It was definitely strange. I mean, he had some things going on in his life. I think he was making some life changes. He was very much looking forward to that. It was going to be a good thing." His white 2021 GMC Sierra pickup was last seen at a parking garage on Second Avenue and Van Buren Street, but its current location is unknown.
The Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner has not yet released a cause of death, listing it as "pending." Friends raised concerns because Freiberger was known to keep others informed, especially about his dog, Thomas, who was left behind in his apartment. "This whole thing is just so sad and tragic," Kruger told FOX 10 Phoenix.
Marcus Freiberger's family confirmed his passing on Tuesday. In a statement, they said, "It is with a heavy heart that I share the tragic news that Marcus is no longer with us. Losing him feels like losing a part of ourselves and I know this will be just as difficult for you. We thank all of you for the love and support you have given Marcus and our family," as mentioned by AZ Family. Police are investigating and ask anyone with information to come forward.
