In an innovative approach to raising awareness about the dangers of driving under the influence, the Pigeon Forge Police Department recently hosted a DUI Enforcement Night for their Citizens' Police Academy participants. According to a post on the department's Facebook page, the event was designed to educate attendees about the serious issue of drunk driving, while incorporating interactive elements to engage participants.

During the event, attendees had the chance to experience firsthand the effects of impairment, by navigating a driving course while wearing "drunk goggles" that simulate the visual distortion associated with intoxication. The department described the experience as "eye-opening" for the academy participants, many of whom may not have previously grasped the full extent of how alcohol impairs one's ability to operate a vehicle, safely.

The aim was to turn a serious topic into a "fun and educational evening" to better inform citizens about the risks and potential consequences of drinking and driving.
