Portland taxpayers can now file local personal and business income tax returns online through multiple software providers, including TurboTax. The Revenue Division expanded electronic filing options for the 2025 tax season, aiming to simplify tax filing for the City of Portland, Multnomah County, and Metro, according to the City of Portland.
The Revenue Division processes 500,000 tax returns each year, collecting over $1.5 billion. Taxpayers can file for free through Portland Revenue Online instead of using fee-based options. Some tax software has supported these returns since 2013, and a 2021 system update improved compatibility for major vendors, as reported by the City of Portland.
"This year, 11 tax software products are carrying our local personal and business income tax returns including TurboTax—the market leader—which is carrying all local personal income tax returns with an electronic filing option," the Revenue Division announced. Supported taxes include the Arts Tax, Metro Supportive Housing Services tax, and the Multnomah County Preschool for All income tax. Taxpayers can file local returns electronically at no additional cost after completing their Oregon state return.
