A hiker suffered a lower leg injury while trekking through Cowboy Trails, and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Search and Rescue (LVMPD SAR) team responded on Saturday, March 29. The incident, which unfolded around 11 am, prompted rescue personnel, along with the Clark County Fire Department's (CCFD) Station 28 team, to hike to the victim's location from the trailhead. This was reported on LVMPD SAR's official social media account.
The operation saw two SAR officers and a Mountain Rescue volunteer swiftly move to provide aid. Personnel were able to successfully load the injured hiker into the SAR utility task vehicle (UTV) and transport them to a designated offsite landing point. From here, the victim was transferred to Mercy Air. According to the social media post by the LVMPD SAR, "The victim was transferred to Mercy Air and ultimately transported to a local hospital."
The prompt response from the SAR officers and CCFD personnel ensured that the victim received the necessary immediate care before the evacuation. The synergistic effort between the different agencies involved played a critical role in the hiker's stabilization and subsequent transportation for further medical treatment.
