A Ramona man was arrested after deputies discovered a ghost gun during a routine traffic stop. The traffic stop, involving a silver Chevrolet Colorado with expired tags, took place on Monday at about 9 p.m. near 10th and B Streets, as reported by the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.
The driver, identified as Brandon Nichols, born on October 25, 2000, was found to possess a loaded, untraceable firearm illegally. These privately made firearms lack serial numbers, making it nearly impossible to trace their origins or owners adequately. Nichols was taken into custody and is facing charges related to possessing an undetectable firearm.
After being released on bond, the case against Nichols further unravels. On Wednesday, sheriff's detectives executed a search warrant at a 500 Block of D Street residence. During the search, they seized equipment used to manufacture firearms, along with illegal magazines, ammunition, and various firearm parts.
This discovery could potentially lead to additional charges against Nichols.
