Chaos struck Redwood City on Monday when a vehicle collision on the 500 block of Winslow Street led to the arrest of 26-year-old resident Julio Cesar Cruz. According to a press release from the Redwood City Police Department, the incident was reported around 5:44 P.M., after which authorities found a severely damaged automobile with deployed airbags. Witnesses said they saw Cruz exiting the car and leaving a female passenger behind in the aftermath of the incident.

The report stated that several San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office deputies were near the vicinity and apprehended Cruz without incident. After being identified as a driver, Cruz was taken into custody and is now facing multiple charges, including Reckless Driving, Kidnapping, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Domestic Violence after allegedly assaulting the female passenger before the crash. The unidentified woman suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical attention.

Cruz's actions now have him behind bars in the San Mateo County Maguire Correctional Facility. Details of the incident suggest that what began as an argument escalated into a physical altercation and ended with a deliberate crash.
