Drivers in Linn County might need to reroute their Thursday commute, as the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced a day-long closure of Route U for culvert replacement work. The section of road, positioned just north of U.S. Route 36 near Bucklin, will be inaccessible from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on March 20.
The affected stretch lies between Lilac Road and Lotus Road. With the roadway completely blocked off, community members who usually traverse this route will have to plan an alternative way to navigate the area during the specified hours. According to MoDOT's announcement, the closure is a necessary disruption for the culvert replacement effort to be carried out.
MoDOT's notice indicates that the timing of the work, set to span a six-hour window, is contingent on favorable weather conditions. Crews are ready to move in and commence operations early today, granted the skies play nice and don't upset the set schedule with inclement teasing. All work is indeed weather-permitting, and dates and times are still subject to change if Mother Nature has her say.
With any roadwork comes a gentle reminder for motorists to keep an eye out for work zones, respect traffic signs, and ensure worker safety by exercising patience and caution when they navigate the detours.
