The Colma Police Department arrested Jonathan Curry, a 40-year-old Sacramento resident, following an incident at a Home Depot located on Colma Boulevard. The arrest, which occurred on March 6, precipitated after Curry was reported to have stolen a substantial cache of merchandise. According to the Colma Police Department, the goods were valued at approximately $841.09.
Police officers were dispatched at precisely 12:12 PM after receiving the theft report. Upon arrival, they quickly identified and intercepted a KIA vehicle associated with the suspect as it departed the store's vicinity. It was during this confrontation that they found and ultimately arrested Curry as he attempted to swallow a small plastic baggy believed to contain illegal narcotics.
Curry, seated as a passenger in the KIA, matched the description provided by the store's loss prevention officer. He initially refused an officer's order to expel the suspicious baggy from his mouth, instead choosing to ingest its contents. This led to an additional charge beyond the initial theft, the destruction of evidence.
Following Curry’s arrest, he was also positively identified as the individual behind the theft by Home Depot's officers. As per protocol, he was taken to a local hospital and, after receiving a citation, released with a promise to appear in court. Curry faces charges of shoplifting, possession of a controlled substance, and destroying or concealing evidence.
