Police in Salt Lake City apprehended a 56-year-old man on allegations of selling fentanyl near the Day-Riverside Branch Library. The Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) arrested someone after receiving a tip about drug transactions in the vicinity yesterday, according to SLCPD.

The suspect, identified as Aaron Hall, was seen attempting to leave the area when officers arrived in response to the complaint. One officer said the suspect admitted to having illegal substances during the investigation. A search on Hall's person revealed over 300 pills suspected to be fentanyl, which were individually packaged, believed to be for distribution. About four grams of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were also found in his possession. Hall has been booked on multiple felony drug-related charges.

SLCPD took steps to ensure public safety and addressed a serious ongoing issue, given that fentanyl distribution continues to be a substantial risk to community health. Officers booked Hall into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on charges that include being in unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
