The department's efforts contained and extinguished the flames, followed by thorough checks to prevent further fire spreading. Samuel Menchaca, a San Francisco Fire Department spokesperson, said, as per Mission Local, "The one-alarm fire was quickly put out and no injuries were reported." The aftermath of the event left a total of five people displaced, with the Red Cross stepping in to provide support.
Initial reports from a resident suggested that a cigarette may have caused the fire. However, as Menchaca stated, the official cause remains under investigation by authorities. Residents of the buildings involved await evaluation from the Department of Building Inspection to determine when they can safely return.
