Last Friday, San Jose's Foothill Division officers made a routine stop that quickly escalated to anything but routine. According to a social media post from the San Jose Police Department, a late-night traffic stop in the area of Alum Rock Ave and White Rd led to a disturbing discovery: a loaded ghost gun concealed within the stopped vehicle.

The stop was executed just after 2:30 AM, born from a vehicle code violation that gave officers reason to investigate further. It was during a probable cause search that they happened across the firearm, which was not bound by serial numbers and not subject to the usual trace. The incident swiftly culminated in the booking of one juvenile into Juvenile Hall, whereas one adult found their way to jail.
"Great job by Foothill Division Officers taking another gun off our streets before it was used to terrorize our community," the San Jose Police Department praised its officers.
