During a routine patrol in San Leandro, a CHP Officer made a concerning discovery after pulling over a white Chevrolet pickup for multiple traffic violations. Officer Perez of the California Highway Patrol's Hayward division initiated the stop only to find more than the initial offenses.
According to an official social media post by CHP Hayward, a search of the vehicle unearthed two illegal firearms, including a "ghost" gun, alarmingly concealed in a child's backpack.
Inside the truck, Officer Perez noticed that the two juvenile passengers were improperly restrained, prompting a deeper investigation into the circumstances of their safety. The driver, an adult male, was arrested on charges of drug possession and child endangerment and subsequently booked into Santa Rita jail.
