The Santa Rosa Police Department, responding to the noise complaint last night, encountered more than just a disturbance of the peace. According to an official social media post from the SRPD, officers approached the vehicle and engaged with two individuals, which led to a concerning discovery.
As officers made contact with the occupants, the right front passenger made a hasty attempt to vacate the scene, briskly pacing away while ignoring officers' commands to stop. An attentive officer noticed the male shifted his hand away from his waistband, unveiling the presence of a "black handgun," as stated by the Santa Rosa Police Department. The quick action of SRPD ensured the man was detained before any further incident could unfold.
The SRPD's post divulged that the handgun found on the 19-year-old Santa Rosa resident, Rene Philip Ramirez-Barrera, was a ghost gun. This untraceable weapon was loaded with four rounds, poised in the magazine, and ready to fire, creating a potentially hazardous situation for the community.
Ramirez-Barrera now faces charges for carrying a loaded firearm in a public place and possession of an unregistered firearm.
