
Schneider Electric USA is expanding its El Paso operations with plans to invest millions in its local campus and create 300 new jobs. Governor Greg Abbott announced the expansion, which is supported by a $1.5 million Texas Enterprise Fund grant. Abbott stated, "'Made in Texas' is a powerful global brand," and added, "This significant new investment by Schneider Electric in El Paso will create 300 new, good-paying jobs for hardworking Texans and showcases our state’s leadership in advanced manufacturing and technological innovation." The El Paso campus, which opened in September 2023, will now expand further, according to the Office of the Texas Governor.
Schneider Electric, which specializes in energy management and industrial automation, is expanding its El Paso campus to increase production of medium voltage switchgear for the data center market. Aamir Paul, President of Schneider Electric North America Operations, stated, "Today’s announcement underscores our commitment to next-generation manufacturing in the U.S. as demand for electrification, digitalization, and automation rises." The company is working with the local supply base to support its expansion, as reported by the Office of the Texas Governor.
Schneider Electric's expansion in El Paso is expected to boost the local economy and job market. Senator César J. Blanco noted the economic benefits, while Representative Joe Moody stated, "This TEF grant will continue that growth, which means food on tables and investment in our community." Mayor Renard Johnson, County Judge Ricardo Samaniego, and Borderplex Alliance CEO Jon Barela acknowledged the area's workforce and business environment as factors in the expansion. Commissioner Sergio Coronado mentioned the investment's role in strengthening the region's manufacturing sector, and District 1 City Representative Alejandra Chávez said, "Schneider Electric’s new agreement with the City of El Paso is a testament to their commitment to our community and their growing impact in District 1," as stated by the Office of the Texas Governor.
