SeaWorld San Diego just raised the bar on oceanic exhibits with the launch of Jewels of the Sea: The Jellyfish Experience. As the largest jellyfish exhibit in the country is now open, visitors can dive into the captivating world of jellyfish right here in the city. With three distinctive galleries, each providing an in-depth look into these marine animals, the experience aims to educate guests on jellyfish traits, from their life cycles to the implications of their stings.
Featuring over 15 aquariums and a variety of jellyfish species, the exhibit does not hold back on delivering a sensory adventure. Interactive elements, such as a massive jellyfish cylinder and a water globe filled with jellyfish, are designed to give you a feeling like you're strolling through an oceanic wonderland. Misplaced among the attractions, there's also a large-scale sculpture of a Lion's Mane Jellyfish, constructed from upcycled marine debris by non-profit Washed Ashore outside the exhibit, to raise awareness about ocean pollution, according to PR Newswire.
Special tours, such as the Jelly Up-Close Tour, are also available for a deep dive into the jellyfish propagation program. According to SeaWorld’s official website, the 15-minute tour, led by an expert aquarist, lets visitors of all ages touch and interact with the jellyfish, making the learning experience much more memorable.
The launch timing is perfection, given that spring break is upon us, and SeaWorld San Diego has cut ticket prices by up to 55% for a limited period. For those who fancy coming back for second, third, or even endless visits, the Annual Pass could be the catch of the day. The park's Instagram page is already buzzing with visitor reactions, sharing that over 10,000 guests have floated through the exhibit since it opened last Saturday, which gave their experience all sorts of vivid descriptors. The pass includes unlimited visits, access to events, and more perks to ensure that marine aficionados get their fix, as hinted by SeaWorld San Diego on Instagram.
