St. Louis drivers should be aware of upcoming road closures and overnight work that may affect commutes. Missouri Department of Transportation has announced closures on key routes, including I-55 and I-64. Northbound I-55 will have overnight closures this and next weekend for concrete placement on the new bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.
Starting on Friday, at 9 p.m., northbound I-55 at Carondelet/River City Boulevard will close until 9 a.m. on Saturday, with a similar closure scheduled for March 28-29 during the same hours. Drivers detouring eastbound I-64 on March 24 can exit at Boone’s Crossing (Exit 17) and take Chesterfield Airport Road westbound. Ongoing closures include one southbound lane of I-55 closed from I-44 to north of Bates, and two southbound lanes closed from north of Bates to north of Weber, with some closures extending through late 2025. Motorists are advised to expect delays and consider alternate routes, as reported by the Missouri Department of Transportation.
Missouri Department of Transportation advises drivers to check its traveler information map and Gateway Guide for real-time traffic updates and roadway conditions, as scheduled work may change due to weather. In Jefferson County, one lane of I-55 between Route 67 and Route Z will be closed, and starting on Friday, the ramp from southbound Route 67 to southbound I-55 will close through September 2025. These closures are part of ongoing infrastructure projects, and motorists are encouraged to plan accordingly.
