Attention St. Louis drivers: a series of work zones will likely impact your commute next week. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced that northbound I-55 at Carondelet/River City Boulevard is due to close overnight tomorrow, starting at 10 p.m., and will reopen by Sunday at 7 a.m. The closure will allow crews to pour concrete for the new bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad, as MoDOT detailed in a recent bulletin.
The flow of traffic is set to be disrupted further by lane closures on southbound I-170 from Monday through Wednesday, March 17-19, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., stretching from the I-70 eastbound and westbound exit ramps. This inconvenience is necessary to safely conduct maintenance on the lanes. To help drivers navigate these disruptions, real-time traffic updates can be accessed at Gateway Guide's website, courtesy of MoDOT.
Long-term closures continue to loom over daily transportation. The list of ongoing restrictions includes various sections of I-55 within St. Louis City, with some lanes closed and certain entrance and exit ramps shuttered through early 2025. I-270 sees similarly narrowed northbound and southbound lanes and closed ramps, whereas Route 67 bears shifted through lanes and a closed left turn lane to German until June 2025. Motorists can expect closures on Route N with several lane shutdowns spread across St. Louis County. Jefferson County isn't spared as the intersection of I-55 and Route 67 is closed alongside lane and ramp closures which are slated to persist through September 2025.
Drivers need also to beware of daily closures which include, but certainly not limited to, single lane constraints on I-44 in St. Louis City, Route 21 in St. Louis County, and assorted shutdowns along I-64 and I-70 across St. Charles County. Commuters venturing through Franklin County will face lane closures on Route 100 at various times on the 13th and 14th of March. For those navigating Jefferson County, expect lane closures along I-55 and Route 67, in addition to other local routes. The full extent of closures can be explored on the comprehensive MoDOT alert.
