Gage Luttman, a 37-year-old man from St. Louis, has pleaded guilty to a staggering 240 charges linking him to a relentless spree of burglaries across the city in 2023 and 2024. According to information obtained by the Circuit Attorney’s Office, Luttman will now face a 14-year sentence for his crimes including burglary, property damage, and stealing.
Over a span of seven months, Luttman's criminal acts saw him breaking into an array of storage units, basements, businesses, and garages, leaving behind a trail of property damage and loss. Surveillance footage often caught him in the act, and he was found to be using stolen vehicles to, more easily conduct his crimes. His methodology typically involved either sawing off the locks from storage units or forcing open garage doors to pilfer whatever valuables he could lay his hands on.
A raid on a Hillsboro residence where Luttman was staying led to the recovery of a trove of stolen goods. The haul included items such as lawn tools, fishing gear, bikes, video games, jewelry, musical instruments, and more, even stretching to include a couple of automobiles—a Hyundai and a Citroën. These possessions, worth thousands of dollars, were burgled by Luttman as part of his efforts to fund a substance addiction through reselling the items for cash.
"The Circuit Attorney’s Office is committed to holding individuals accountable for crimes that disrupt our community’s sense of safety and security," St. Louis Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore was quoted as saying. This conviction serves to potentially reassure a community shaken by the extent of Luttman's thefts and the reminder that such predations are not so distant from any of our lives.
