Heads up, drivers in the St. Peters area, roadwork could put a dent in your commute for the next week. Several lanes on Mexico Road and Grand Teton Drive are facing intermittent closures due to utility work by a private contractor, with the activity, of course, dependent on the whims of mother nature through next Tuesday.
The latest schedule of lane closures has the eastbound traffic on Mexico Road feeling the squeeze first: the outside lane near Grand Teton intersection is shut down during the hours of 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. since Monday, per the City of St. Peters officials. Westbound voyagers weren't spared, with the outside lane near the same crossroads closed from March 4-7, across that same 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. window.
But wait, there's more. Grand Teton Drive's not getting off easy either. The outside northbound lane near the intersection with Mexico Road will be closed come Monday, March 10, for the same 8 a.m.-2 p.m. interval and, if your travels take you southbound on Grand Teton, expect a similar closure near Mexico Road intersection starting next Tuesday. Traffic's already a beast sometimes, without the added excitement of lane closures.
It's a dance of sorts, with the closure lineup subject to change; all lanes could switcheroo to the interior ones during the construction period. So, while your GPS might suggest the fastest route, a glance at the local alerts could save you from the all-too-familiar chorus of horns and brake lights. Details regarding this traffic advisory were provided by the City of St. Peters website.
