In a significant breakthrough for a cold case that has haunted the Sunnyvale community, authorities have apprehended a suspect linked to multiple rapes dating back over 15 years. The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety announced the arrest of Davis Bryan Vest in connection with a kidnapping and rape that occurred in 2009. According to the department, the rekindled investigation led to Vest being implicated in at least two sexual assaults in the area.

Vest was taken into custody just before midnight on Tuesday through diligent detective work that pieced together evidence prompting a renewed look at the previously unresolved case. The Santa Clara County District Attorney's office was presented with the findings, culminating in an arrest warrant issued for charges including kidnapping to commit a sexual offense and rape by force, violence, duress, menace, or fear. Despite the passage of time, Vest has now been connected to these heinous acts, shining a light on the persisting shadows of past crimes.
