A Knoxville Police Department investigation led to the swift apprehension of a suspect on charges of attempted carjacking and aggravated assault, officials confirmed last night. The incident unfolded near Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church in the 9100 block of Kingston Pike, Knoxville, where a woman reportedly stabbed a man after he refused to hand over his truck keys. The suspect then fled the scene, according to the KPD's announcement on social media.
Following the attack, which took place around 2 p.m., the victim received medical care at the UT Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. Community members were initially called upon to aid the authorities by identifying the woman, with the promise of a possible cash reward for information leading to her capture, the Knoxville Police Department reported. The East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers facilitated anonymous tips at 865-215-7165.
"Charges are pending for attempted carjacking and aggravated assault," the Knoxville Police Department assured.
