In what can only be described as a sobering reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence, a pedestrian was struck and seriously injured in front of a Miramar Road business. The San Diego Police Department reports a 39-year-old man was attempting to park his vehicle when he inexplicably drove onto the curb and trapped a 23-year-old male's leg against a wall. The incident, which occurred at 9532 Miramar Road, resulted in the younger man suffering fractures to his right leg and experiencing head pain.
The San Diego Police Department suspects that DUI played a role in this tragic accident, which took place at around 8:41 AM yesterday. According to the San Diego Police Department's press release, the victim simply replaced trash bags in front of the business when the driver lost control. This unfortunate event highlights a continued struggle against irresponsible driving behaviors with potential life-altering consequences.
Sergeant David Nilsen, the watch commander on duty, has appealed to the public for any information related to the incident. Witnesses or those with relevant knowledge can call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
