Two individuals were arrested late at night for attempting to smuggle contraband into a Washington County prison using a drone. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, a deputy from the Washington County Sheriff's Office noticed suspicious vehicles near the prison just before midnight on Wednesday last week.

Upon investigation, the deputy found a man and a woman with a large drone, which had packages zip-tied to its base. The suspects were identified as Shantavia Glass, 38, of Clarkston, and Eddie Williams, 55, of Stone Mountain. They face charges including trafficking in marijuana, trafficking in methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II drug, and six counts of trading with inmates.

The deputy also discovered about 10 pounds of marijuana, approximately 7.6 ounces of methamphetamine, and nearly 30 pounds of tobacco intended for illegal delivery. Sheriff Joel Cochran confirmed these details in a statement to WGXA, revealing the significant amount of contraband that was intercepted.

Glass and Williams are currently detained and awaiting legal proceedings.
