Brooklyn Park Police have arrested someone in connection to the January shooting at a local Wingstop restaurant. After weeks of investigation, a 17-year-old male is now in custody, facing allegations tied to the gunfire that rattled the 9600 block of Colorado Lane. The incident, which occurred on January 20th, left the establishment riddled with bullets and one person wounded.
According to authorities, at around 10:00 p.m. that evening, officers were summoned to the scene after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found evidence of the violent encounter: 15 bullet holes marking the business's exterior. Inside, amidst the chaos, an adult had suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper torso, later receiving treatment at a local hospital.
The breakthrough in the case came on March 13th, 2025, when the Brooklyn Park Police, together with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Violent Crime Reduction Unit, conducted a search warrant operation in Fridley, MN. Their target was a residence in the 5800 block of 6th Street, where the teenage suspect was apprehended and evidence linking him to the Wingstop shooting was uncovered.
Following the arrest, the young suspect was booked into the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center. The case remains under the purview of the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, where the suspect's connection to the shooting will be further scrutinized.
