
The Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) is actively seeking new correctional officers and has announced it will be hosting a Rapid Hire Event later this month. The event is aimed at fast-tracking the hiring process and will take place at the West Tennessee State Penitentiary in Henning.
On Friday and Saturday, interested individuals have the opportunity to quickly go through interviews and pre-employment procedures. According to the TDOC, potential hires may to rapidly receive a conditional job offer on the same day. Starting salaries for correctional officers are set at $51,204, with an expectation to increase to $60,720 after 18 months. The department is offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus to new hires as an incentive.
The benefits of becoming a state employee include health, life, vision, and dental insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and college tuition assistance. Additionally, new hires will undergo six weeks of paid training at the Tennessee Correction Academy, aimed at providing hands-on experience and essential knowledge for their roles.
Individuals interested in attending the hiring event can register online, though walk-ins are also accepted. The event will take place at 480 Green Chapel Road, Henning, TN, at the West Tennessee State Penitentiary/Women’s Therapeutic Residential Center.
