
Tennessee’s unemployment rate increased from 3.1% in February 2024 and has remained at 3.7% for the past six months. This rate is below the national average of 4.1%, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
The state added 19,200 jobs over the past year, with the most growth in government, leisure and hospitality, and education and health services. Between January and February, Tennessee gained 9,100 jobs, with education and health services leading, as reported by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
Tennessee residents can access free job resources through the American Job Centers. The Tennessee Office of Reentry is also providing support for justice-involved individuals reentering the workforce. The state will release its February 2025 unemployment data for all 95 counties on April 3, at 1:30 p.m. CDT, as stated by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
