Texas Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Jon Keeney to the Board of Pilot Commissioners for Harris County Ports. Keeney, the mayor of Taylor Lake Village, will serve a new term on the board until February 1, 2027. The board oversees pilot services in Harris County, a key location for maritime activity with many vessels passing through.
According to the Office of the Texas Governor website, Keeney’s background includes a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Nuclear Engineering and a Master of Arts in Psychology. He has served as the mayor of Taylor Lake Village, a trustee for the Gulf Coast Rail District, and has been involved with the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy. He has also been active in community organizations. His broad experience will continue to guide his work on the board.
Keeney has held leadership roles with the Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD and Interfaith Caring Ministries, reflecting his commitment to community service. He also serves at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. His involvement in both public service and maritime logistics makes him a valuable asset to Harris County.
