
An officer-involved shooting in Tolleson is currently under investigation after a man was critically injured in the early hours of last Friday. As reported by ABC15, the confrontation took place near a business at 99th Avenue and Buckeye Road around 2:00 a.m., when Tolleson police officers followed a truck into the parking lot and subsequently discharged their weapons during an encounter with the man.
The man, now identified as 35-year-old Ricky Henry Barron, remains in critical condition at a hospital. No officers were reported injured during the incident. Although a weapon has not been recovered at the scene, investigators have yet to search Barron's vehicle, according to officials.
Buckeye Police revealed the identity of the injured man on Saturday. Despite the critical situation, detailed circumstances leading up to the shooting have not been disclosed. FOX10 Phoenix noted that officials with the Tolleson Police Department have yet to provide specifics on what precipitated the encounter that unfolded in the area of 97th Avenue and Buckeye Road.
Going forward, the West Valley Incident Response Team will assume responsibility for the ongoing investigation. The specifics of the confrontation, including whether Barron was armed at the time of the shooting, remain unclear as officials determine their next steps.
