In a somber incident that took place in Atlanta's Zone 6, a two-year-old girl was struck, and fatally injured by a vehicle on Glenwood Ave. SE. The Atlanta Police Department reports that the accident happened last Friday, around 9:32 p.m. near 2201 Glenwood Ave. SE, as confirmed in a news release published by the department.
The young victim was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle prior to the arrival of the police. Upon reaching the hospital, officers found the child who had, unfortunately, succumbed to her injuries. A preliminary probe into the accident suggests that a Land Rover, while driving on Glenwood Ave. SE, was turning onto a private roadway when the child unexpectedly ran in front of the vehicle and was hit, this according to the Atlanta Police Department's news release.
The driver involved in the incident remained at the scene and is presumably cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Accident Investigations Unit personnel were dispatched to the location to piece together the circumstances of the perturbing event. As of yet, no charges have been filed as the investigation continues to unravel the sequence of events leading to the tragic outcome.
