
An Osceola County crash involving a wrong-way driver claimed the lives of three family members, the Florida Highway Patrol confirmed. According to WESH, the collision happened on Highway 441 on a Sunday afternoon when a Ford F-150 struck a Toyota RAV4 head-on. The victims were identified as 34-year-old Pragathi Reddy Velivarthi, 56-year-old Sunitha Purumandla, and 5-year-old Harveen Purumandla, all from Orlando.
Reports from ClickOrlando indicate that the driver of the Ford F-150 was attempting to pass slower traffic before the collision. Additionally, a 34-year-old man and a 9-month-old baby were also in the car with the victims and sustained minor injuries. FHP Public Information Officer Migdalisis Garcia stated, "It's definitely emotional," acknowledging the gravity of the situation, especially considering the loss of a young child.
The crash occurred on North Kenansville Road near Yates Ranch Road shortly before 3 p.m., shared FOX35 Orlando. Witnesses reported the truck driver had been in the wrong lane for an extended time before impacting the SUV, which consequently flipped off the roadway. The truck driver was hospitalized with minor injuries and has since been released.
While authorities have not yet made any arrests, the truck driver potentially faces charges pending the investigation results. An investigation is ongoing to determine if factors such as speed or impairment played roles in the tragic accident.
