Chaos erupted in the Redwood City intersection last week when two masked individuals engaged in a violent assault, leaving one person with severe injuries. According to the Redwood City Police Department's press release, the incident occurred at approximately 7:01 P.M. last Friday at the corner of Cedar Street and Stambaugh Street, setting off a quick police response and a search for the suspects.
Details provided by the police indicate that the suspects, both juveniles from Redwood City, were recorded punching and kicking the victim before fleeing the scene in a white pickup truck. Yet, the license plate was noted by bystanders, enabling the police to issue a BOLO alert for the suspects' apprehension, and despite the violence of the situation, the victim, who was left with broken teeth, among other injuries, received prompt medical attention.
A breakthrough came when a Flock camera in San Carlos captured the white pickup truck a mere nine minutes after the assault. This led the San Mateo County Sheriff's deputy to locate and detain both suspects without further incident. The assailants, one 16 and the other 17 years old, were taken into custody but were later relocated to the San Mateo County Youth Service Center.
