Two individuals face serious injuries after their RV collided with a concrete barrier and rolled onto its side on Interstate 15 in Orem, triggering extensive traffic disruption in the southbound lanes. The incident occurred near University Parkway, where the RV was hauling an SUV which also became part of the wreckage after clearing the barrier, as reported by FOX 13.
Utah Highway Patrol's Lt. Cameron Roden confirmed that the two occupants of the RV were promptly taken to a hospital in a serious condition. An initial call for a medical helicopter was subsequently canceled, the reasons for the crash remain under investigation, and while Roden did not disclose specific details on the potential causes such as distracted, or drowsy driving, or impairment, he remarked, "It's not every day that you do see one of this magnitude, especially the damage to a vehicle like this," according to KUTV.
The accident, which forced the RV out of control around 10:42 a.m., resulted in a significant traffic blockage, though by later in the day, I-15 was reopened. Authorities have not revealed the identities of the individuals involved nor indicated if there were any other passengers in the RV at the time of the accident, as the inquiry into the crash's precipitating factors continues, "Investigators are working to determine what happened to cause the accident," Lt. Roden said, as per KSL.
