The Maricopa County Attorney's Office announced two men, Arturo Vazquez-Rodriguez and Isaac Lechuga, will face serious charges following a spate of violence that left one dead. According to the county's release, the indictment includes first-degree murder for the killing of Naul Hernandez.
The early morning of February 21 witnessed the pair allegedly execute a gunpoint robbery at a 25th Avenue convenience store. Details are scarce on how the plan unfolded; however, one acted as a robber, the other a lookout. They were quick to flee, only to soon carry out a far graver act.
Following the robbery, the assailants moved on to another convenience store at 27th Avenue, where the fatal shooting took place. Vazquez-Rodriguez’s captivity is secured by a cash-only bond of $1 million, while Lechuga's release is tethered to a secured appearance bond. They're currently awaiting trial, set for October.
