The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office is currently undertaking an urgent search for Benjamin James Sherwood, a 39-year-old Mountain Iron resident who has been missing since yesterday morning. According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, Sherwood's wife reported last seeing him at their home on the 8800 block of Main Street around 10 a.m., before he departed on foot.
Sherwood, who recently suffered a back and neck injury from a fall on ice and has a history of traumatic brain injury, has become the center of a search operation that has persisted through the early morning hours without success. Teams conducted both ground and aerial searches but have yet to locate him. In a possible sighting, Benjamin was believed to be near the intersection of North 8 Avenue West and, 16th Street North in Virginia at around 4 PM on the day he disappeared.
The Sheriff's office is extending its appeal for assistance to the public, especially those living and working in the areas of Mountain Iron, Walmart, L&M, Parkville, and northwestern Virginia city, to review their security camera footage for any images of Benjamin that could aid in the investigation. Reports should be directed to 911 with reference to case number 25035248.
Benjamin is described as a white male, approximately 5’8” tall, and weighing 180 pounds. He is bald, has a beard, and was last seen wearing a blue coat with an orange fur-lined hood, khaki pants, dark brown boots, and an orange hat with a wide dark green stripe on it. It's also believed that he may have been carrying a camouflage backpack similar to the one shown in the provided photographs.
