Residents of East Madrid Avenue are bracing for a temporary disruption as Renegade Construction is set to connect a new water line tomorrow. According to the City of Las Cruces, the areas affected span from Mesquite Street to Solano Drive, with an anticipated outage from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Neighboring regions may find themselves without water as well during this period.
Ahead of the scheduled work, city crews are slated to place door hanger notices to warn residents at least 48 hours in advance. The City reassured that while post-restoration water might seem discolored due to iron, manganese, and calcium deposits, the water is still safe for consumption. Nonetheless, they recommend postponing any laundry activities until the water runs clear again to avoid any potential staining from the discoloration.
The discoloration, as reported by the City of Las Cruces, is anticipated to clear up within 24 hours following service restoration. For those where the discoloration lingers, the city suggests flushing all faucets for five minutes. Should this not resolve the issue, the City of Las Cruces's helpline at 526-0500 is available for assistance.
