Two people were injured in a shooting on Indianapolis' near north side yesterday. CBS4 reports that officers arrived at the 2300 block of North Alabama Street around 5:55 p.m. and found one victim with gunshot wounds.
Adding to the weekend's violent incidents, a critical shooting on Indianapolis' east side left a man fighting for his life. Gunshots pierced the silence of the 3800 block of Biscayne Road, near 38th Street and North Post Road, where the man identified as 35-year-old Rodolfo Hernandez was found suffering from a wound that officers initially believed were self-inflicted, according to a FOX59 report. Hernandez later succumbed to his injuries after arriving at Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition.
Earlier today, the Marion County Coroner's Office confirmed Hernandez's death, noting that the final cause and manner of his tragic end were pending. As the community reeled from these separate shootings, the coroner's office grappled with making sense of Hernandez's premature departure, as reported by WTHR.
While the investigation into the shooting on North Alabama Street continues, it remains unclear if the two incidents are related. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the incident, seeking justice for the injured.
