
Valley drivers should prepare for multiple freeway closures and restrictions this weekend as the Arizona Department of Transportation undertakes various improvement projects. According to ABC15, starting at 9 p.m. and extending until 5 a.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, eastbound traffic on US 60 (Superstition Freeway) will be shut down between Country Club and Mesa drives for bridge maintenance. Additionally, westbound US 60 will be reduced to four lanes over the same time period and nights for similar work between Mesa and Country Club drives.
Traffic flow disruptions will not be limited to US 60, as Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard also faces closure under Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. during the weekend, detour routes have been suggested by the authorities, drivers are advised to take frontage roads and appropriate alternates to navigate the closures. Moreover, 12News reports the eastbound Loop 101 will be narrowed to two lanes between Cave Creek Road and State Route 51 from Friday evening till early Saturday, and eastbound on-ramp at Cave Creek Road will be closed.
Alongside these closures, there are additional restrictions to be aware of. The eastbound I-10 on-ramp at 32nd Street will be inaccessible from 10 p.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Saturday due to traffic-monitoring equipment installation, per 12News. Depending on one's direction, drivers can use alternative on-ramps at locations such as 40th Street to continue on their routes.
Meanwhile, the westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) will face lane reductions to two lanes between Val Vista Dr and Lindsay Rd from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday, and the westbound on-ramp at Val Vista Drive is to undergo a 60-day closure beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, drivers who typically use this on-ramp should instead consider using alternatives like Santan Village Parkway or Lindsay Road.
