Residents of West Allis are invited to join the upcoming Community Conversation on April 8, focusing on the crucial topic of "Creating a Community for All Ages." The gathering is set to take place at 6 p.m. within Aurora West Allis Medical Center’s Conference Room A, located at 8901 W. Lincoln Ave. Guests are encouraged to embark on a collaborative journey, guided by the informative insights of the recent AARP Age-Friendly West Allis survey, to construct a nurturing environment catering to the older adults of our community.
Having been restricted to voices of those aged 45 and up, the AARP survey sheds light on pivotal aspects such as housing, transportation, and employment among others. The conveners of this dialog are none other than the elder custodians of our society, the West Allis Senior Center along with key municipal and healthcare partners. As articulated on the city’s official announcement, "This is your chance to share ideas, connect with neighbors, and help shape a more inclusive, thriving West Allis for everyone!" Parking will not be a concern as options include two structures and surface lots.
Instructions are clear for those unsure of the venue's layout: Upon entering the main hospital, guests should seek out the guiding green diamonds along the floors. This path will lead participants through the twists and turns of the complex to the heart of the conversation. With stakes high in the pursuit of inclusivity, each shared experience and proposition has the potential to weave a stronger fabric of society, one respectful of its elders and invested in its collective future.
The coalition of hosts, detailed by the official press release, is a unified force consisting of the Southwestern Suburban Health Department, West Allis-West Milwaukee Recreation Center, Eras Senior Network, Life Navigators, and Aurora Health Care. Their partnership embodies a committed response to the tangible needs reflected in community surveys, honing in on a desire to foster an environment where those in the twilight of their lives feel acknowledged, supported, and integrated. Attendees can expect a space steeped in constructive conversation, ready to embrace varied insights that will flow from Conference Room A.
