
A kitchen fire in Knoxville's Lonsdale neighborhood has left a woman injured, following an incident that occurred last night. Firefighters from the Knoxville Fire Department responded to reports of a house fire on the 3300 block of Midway Street, as reported by WATE.
The injured woman was trying to put out the flames when she sustained burns, according to the fire department’s statement. The fire, which caused moderate damage to the home, including smoke and water damage, was brought under control without any injuries reported by another person in the home. "The crew was able to quickly extinguish the fire," WBIR noted regarding the fire department's efforts.
Emergency services rendered immediate care to the woman at the scene, who was subsequently transported for further evaluation and treatment to a local hospital. The nature of her injuries was primarily burns, as crews provided her with emergency medical attention, as WIVK covered from the scene.
In the wake of the incident, an investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched by the Knoxville Fire Department Investigations Unit. The operation last night deployed resources including 3 engine companies, 1 quint company, 1 rescue company, and 2 battalion chiefs.
