Zoo Miami's senior cheetah, Koda, recently visited the vet for a checkup and received a clean health report. The 13-year-old cheetah, weighing 110 pounds, was born in South Africa in 2012 and has become a well-known resident of the zoo. During his checkup, Koda underwent various medical procedures, including an ultrasound, dental cleaning, and blood work. According to WSVN, all tests came back positive, confirming Koda's good health.
As an older cheetah, these regular checkups are essential to ensure Koda’s quality of life. In addition to the mentioned procedures, Koda also had radiographs and an endoscopy as part of his comprehensive exam.
Though Koda is no longer regularly seen as an ambassador animal, he still plays a role in conservation education. Koda now resides in an off-exhibit habitat but occasionally appears in the ambassador habitats near the Sami Amphitheater, as CBS News Miami reported.
