
A young man's life was cut short in a spate of gun violence that riddled Chicago's Morgan Park neighborhood late Tuesday evening, as local authorities grapple with yet another homicide on the city's Far South Side.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, 19-year-old Treyvon Winfield was gunned down around 8:10 p.m. on the 1000 block of 115th Street. He was approached by an unknown male who unleashed a barrage of bullets, resulting in multiple gunshot wounds. His young life was eclipsed mere minutes later after being rushed to Roseland Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at 8:28 p.m., leaving many to mourn the senselessness of such an abrupt end.
No suspects have been apprehended in the case. FOX 32 Chicago report indicated that the authorities are in pursuit of an unidentified individual who, after confronting Winfield on foot, then proceeded to brandish a firearm and carried out what would be a lethal attack before escaping in a direction yet unknown to law enforcement officials, with details of the suspect still not forthcoming from the Chicago Police Department.
