A 19-year-old Nigerian man, Ugochukwu Chukwudi, has been arrested in Hammond on charges of uploading and possessing child pornography. The arrest was made by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office after an investigation by their Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Chukwudi is facing multiple charges related to illegal material involving minors.
Details provided by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office and reported by FOX 8 Live included that Chukwudi was booked with 41 counts of pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13, as well as 23 counts involving older children who is still minors. Authorities began their investigation in March after illicit videos depicting sexually exploited children were uploaded to an online cloud service.
An analysis of devices in Chukwudi's possession allegedly turned up 64 video files containing child sexual abuse material. The majority of these files reportedly feature victims under the age of 13, as mentioned in an article by WGNO. His apprehension was a result of a cooperative effort involving the Attorney General Liz Murrill’s office and the Hammond Police Department.
The investigation led to the arrest of Chukwudi for his involvement in uploading and distributing child pornography online. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office has not revealed how Chukwudi was connected to the video uploads, but the analysis of his devices confirmed his involvement.
