The Framingham Police Department has announced the arrest of a 20-year-old Ashland resident, Samuel Delaney Jr., in connection with a recent shooting on Waverley Street. According to the department's social media post, Delaney was apprehended by detectives on Friday morning and is facing multiple charges related to the non-fatal incident that took place on March 16th.
Delaney has been saddled with a slew of charges including Armed Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault and Battery by Discharging a Firearm, and several others related to the unlawful possession and use of a firearm, Delaney's capture comes after a thorough investigation by local authorities into a shooting which has since sparked concern among residents about the prevalence of gun violence in the area. In a statement obtained by the Framingham Police Department, officials underscored their commitment to public safety and swift justice in this case.
The charges brought against Delaney include Armed Assault with Intent to Murder under M.G.L. Ch. 265 Sec. 18, Assault and Battery by Discharging a Firearm under M.G.L. Ch. 265 Sec. 15E, and Assault and Battery Dangerous Weapon; to wit Firearm under M.G.L. Ch. 254 Sec. 15A. Additionally, Delaney faces charges related to firearm possession, including Unlawful possession of a Firearm under M.G.L. Ch. 269 Sec. 10(A), Carrying a Loaded Firearm under M.G.L. Ch. 269 Sec. 10(n), and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition under M.G.L. Sec. 265 Sec. 10(h)(1). He has also been charged with the Discharge of a Firearm within 500 feet of a Building under M.G.L. Sec. 269 Sec. 12(e).
