A 20-year-old man named Sorai King was shot and killed following a dispute inside a Bronx deli on Bronxwood Avenue. The incident occurred just after 1:30 p.m. yesterday, when an argument between King and another individual, who was not a deli employee, escalated to violence, as ABC 7 New York reported.
King sustained gunshot wounds to his neck and chest and, despite being rushed to Jacobi Hospital, succumbed to his injuries, both outlets confirm, with the family's anguish painfully clear as King's aunt expressed to News 12 The Bronx, “We want justice for my nephew. He was only 20 years old he did not deserve this." Authorities disclosed that the nature of the dispute might have been gang-related, a theory stemming from previous police interactions involving those related to the tragedy.
Surveillance footage obtained by News 12 The Bronx captured the suspect fleeing the scene, returning briefly to the deli before making a second escape along East 217th Street. The search for the shooter continues, with the police releasing a description: the suspect is male, last seen dressed in a black shirt adorned with flowers and a vest, following his flight on foot from the crime scene.
The investigation is ongoing as officials work to piece together the final moments of the fateful dispute.
