The San José Police Department is currently investigating a traffic fatality from 2019 that claimed the life of a pedestrian, marking the 59th death on the city’s roadways of that year. On November 26, 2019, a vehicle on Monterey Road struck a pedestrian. This is an incident that San José officials have revisited after the victim passed away last Friday, succumbed to the injuries sustained, as reported by the SJPD.
According to the initial investigation by the San José Police Department, the collision occurred as a black Toyota sedan, driven by an adult female, was heading north on Monterey Road and collided with a male pedestrian who was walking eastbound, outside a marked crosswalk. The victim was transported to a local hospital, enduring life-threatening injuries, before being placed in long-term care. Despite hopes for his recovery, the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office announced he had died due to those injuries, after spending years in care. This was later shared with the public by the SJPD.
