
A 27-year-old man was pronounced dead early Monday after a fire swept through a South Shore neighborhood apartment building in Chicago, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times. The blaze was being fought by firefighters in the 7800 block of South Shore Drive when they discovered the man unresponsive on the building's third floor.
Responding to a distress call around 3:30 a.m., Chicago police arrived to find the Chicago Fire Department already working to extinguish the flames, during this time the man was found and despite the life-saving efforts by firefighters, he was dead on the scene, his identity remains unrevealed, only the Sun-Times and FOX 32 Chicago confirmed the man's age as 27.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Chicago Fire Department, and there has been no immediate indication of its origin or potential foul play, with details still becoming available as officials continue their inquiry into the tragic event. The University of Chicago Medical Center has confirmed the pronouncement of the man's death.
