The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is working on a $6.7 million project to improve LA 133 in Richland Parish. The project covers more than eight miles of road, from US 80 in Start to LA 15. The binder and wearing course layers have been applied, and the focus is now on finishing driveways and turnouts, according to the Department of Transportation and Development.
The renovation will cause intermittent lane closures, which may disrupt traffic flow. Construction will focus on ensuring the safety of the workers and the quality of the work. Once completed in fall 2025, the improvements are expected to benefit around 2,000 daily drivers, as reported by the Department of Transportation and Development.
The Department of Transportation and Development has advised the public to be cautious around the ongoing construction site. They stated, "please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment," as these areas may pose risks for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists. Due to unpredictable weather and other factors, the completion date for the construction may change.
