In a joint operation spearheaded by the San Francisco Police Department and the San Francisco Sheriff's Office, dozens were arrested over alleged narcotics sales and outstanding warrants. Conducted across several districts—Tenderloin, Mission, and Southern—the operation netted 67 individuals. An announcement by the SFPD detailed that this sweep, which took place on Wednesday, was part of ongoing efforts by the Drug Market Agency Coordination Center (DMACC) to crack down on the city's drug markets. Of those arrested, 53 already had warrants out for their capture, with a Fugitive Recovery Enforcement Team responsible for executing 15 of those arrests, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
During the operation that lasted just one day, officers also confiscated 3 ounces of narcotics and a firearm. This foray involved substantial coordination of personnel, drawing upon units that included the SFPD's own Fugitive Recovery Enforcement Team (FRET), DMACC Enforcement Team, and Narcotics Unit, among others. The multi-faceted operation, while wrenching up the streets to seize those accused, revealed broader efforts to stem the drug crisis, also included the Healthy Streets Operation Center, all aiming to rehabilitate the city's more embattled neighborhoods.
The SFPD extended gratitude to the Sheriff’s Office, underscoring its critical role in the operation's success. Ongoing commitments were affirmed by the SFPD to continue prioritizing actions that mitigate the drug crisis plaguing San Francisco, holding a focus on bringing wanted suspects to account, as well as those who traffic in illegal substances. In a statement released by the SFPD, they emphasize, "We will continue to prioritize efforts to address the drug crisis in our city by taking wanted suspects off our streets and holding individuals who sell illegal narcotics accountable."
Despite dozens being taken into custody, the investigations connected to these individuals remain open. The public is encouraged to step forward with any relevant information and is invited to contact the SFPD by phone at 1-415-575-4444 or submit tips anonymously by using the Text a Tip service, prefixing messages with 'SFPD'.
